2009 Hyundai Tiburon / Coupe Scooped.

Coupe ScoopedSanta Fe’s and i30’s are ok but if you really want to standout and make a point you either do it with a sports coupe or a luxury car. Hyundai seems more than willing to do it both ways with the production version of the Genesis concept that’s scheduled to go into production in 2008 and the all-new Tiburon (or Coupe in Europe). Judging from these cell-phone camera images, the latter seems to be in the last phase of testing’s, about a year before it goes for sale. Although official information is scarce for the time being, it’s evident that Hyundai’s designers took a really close look to the 2004 Detroit Show Concept, the HCD8 Sports Tourer when they penned the new Tiburon. We’ve heard rumours that the Hyundai will base the sports coupe on the rear-wheel drive platform of the Genesis sedan, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Koreans decided to continue using a front-wheel drive platform. The scoop images also give us a glimpse of the interior with a typical, for a modern Korean car, design and a view of the engine bay that seems to house an inline, 4cylinder engine.

BMW Scoops International Engine Award For The 3rd Year In A Row With Its Twin-Turbo 3.0

Twin-Turbo 3.0As anticipated by the press, BMW’s 3-litre Twin-Turbo that premiered in the 335i Coupe, was crowned “International Engine of the Year 2007” at the ninth annual International Engine of the Year Awards, thus creating a new record as the title remains for the third consecutive year in Munich. However, that’s not the only reason why the Bavarians should feel proud as they managed to scoop seven out of 12 trophies in 2007 compared to five last year. Peter Langen, BMW’s director of powertrain, commented: “This is a tremendous achievement and important recognition of the lengths our engineers have gone to in order to ensure the success of our turbocharged petrol engines. We are proud to once again be honoured as the manufacturer of the International Engine of the Year.”
Elsewhere, the 62 motoring journalists from 30 countries that participated in the voting handed two awards to VW Group for their 1.4 TSI & 2.0 TFSI engines, while another two trophies were given to Toyota for the Prius's 1.5-litre Hybrid powertrain and the Aygo's 3-cylinder 1.0-liter engine. Finally, Porsche won a trophy for the 911's 3.6-liter Twin Turbo engine.

Ford i-MAX: Rebadged Mazda5 MPV Joins Ford Asia’s Lineup.

Ford i-MAX
And there we were, babbling to ourselves what are those Chinese going to throw in the Xerox machine next, when all of a sudden we realized that the i-MAX is actually an official Ford product for the Asian markets! There’s not much we can say about the i-MAX due to our limited –ok, inexistent, knowledge of the Chinese language, so we’ll stick to the apparent. The i-MAX is based on the Mazda5 MPV with styling changes including the redesigned front end, the new horizontal tail lamps and the addition of “S-MAX” inspired, side air-vents.
